Child Safety Standards

Dear Anonymous, operated by DA Digital Ltd, has a zero-tolerance approach to child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) and child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Dear Anonymous is intended only for users aged 18 and over. However, we recognise that protecting children requires safeguards regardless of the intended age of our users.

Prohibited conduct

Dear Anonymous strictly prohibits the use of its service to create, share, solicit, promote or facilitate content or behaviour involving the sexual abuse or exploitation of children. This includes, but is not limited to:
  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
  • Grooming or attempting to groom a child for sexual purposes.
  • Sexual solicitation of a child.
  • Sextortion involving a child.
  • Sexual exploitation or trafficking of a child.
  • Sexualisation of children.
  • Soliciting, offering, distributing or facilitating access to CSAM.
  • Encouraging or facilitating sexual contact with a child.
  • Any other content or behaviour that sexually exploits, abuses or endangers a child.
These prohibitions apply to all letters, replies and other interactions made through Dear Anonymous.

Reporting child safety concerns

Users can report content directly within the Dear Anonymous app. If a letter or reply raises a concern about the safety, sexual abuse or exploitation of a child, users should select Child safety when reporting the content. Child safety concerns can also be reported to: info@dearanonymous.app Reports concerning child safety are treated seriously and may be prioritised for review and appropriate action.

How we respond

When DA Digital Ltd becomes aware of content or behaviour that may involve child sexual abuse or exploitation, we will take appropriate action in accordance with applicable law and these standards. Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
  • Restricting access to or removing offending content.
  • Restricting, suspending or permanently banning accounts.
  • Reviewing associated activity on the service.
  • Preserving relevant information where required or permitted by law.
  • Reporting child sexual abuse or exploitation to the appropriate authority where required.
We do not knowingly permit CSAM or content facilitating child sexual exploitation to remain accessible through Dear Anonymous after obtaining actual knowledge of it.

Reporting to authorities

DA Digital Ltd complies with applicable child-safety laws and regulations and maintains processes for reporting child sexual abuse and exploitation to the appropriate authorities. Depending on the circumstances and applicable jurisdiction, reports may be made to:
  • The UK National Crime Agency (NCA) through its Child Sexual Exploitation & Abuse Industry Reporting process.
  • The US National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) through its CyberTipline, where applicable.
  • Another competent regional, national or international authority where required by applicable law.
We seek to avoid unnecessary duplicate reporting where an incident has already been appropriately reported to an equivalent competent authority. Where there is an immediate and identifiable risk to a child’s safety, we may also refer the matter to the appropriate law-enforcement or emergency authority.

Preservation and cooperation

Where required or permitted by applicable law, DA Digital Ltd may preserve information associated with suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation for the purposes of investigation, reporting, regulatory compliance or cooperation with competent authorities. Access to information retained for child-safety purposes is restricted and is not made available to users through the normal Dear Anonymous service. We will cooperate with valid requests from law-enforcement, child-protection and other competent authorities in accordance with applicable law.

Enforcement

Violations of these standards may result in action including:
  • Removal or restriction of content.
  • Temporary restriction of an account.
  • Suspension of an account.
  • Permanent termination of an account.
  • Reporting to relevant authorities where appropriate or legally required.
The action taken will depend on the nature and circumstances of the violation and our applicable legal obligations.

Scope

These Child Safety Standards apply to the Dear Anonymous service operated by DA Digital Ltd and supplement our Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy and other applicable user policies.
